AstanaBuild sets the pace

The 15th edition of construction exhibition, AstanaBuild, will take place from 22 to 24 May 2013 in the city's Korme exhibition centre and provides a platform for presenting the latest technology, equipment, materials, parts and services for the construction industry.

In 2017 Astana will host EXPO-2017. Construction for the expo is scheduled to begin in early 2014, following an international competition to select the designers for the planned 124 hectare exhibition site.

At least five million visitors are expected at EXPO-2017, which is set to further boost Astana's already impressive economic and infrastructural development – by 2017, the city will be shaped by major projects including; the Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Library of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Museum, the National Defence University, an indoor city, the Abu Dhabi complex, Hilton, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons hotels, a 5,000-seater Martial Arts Palace, a 10,000-seater Ice Palace, and a new railway station.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan:"The construction of new facilities within the exhibition will give a completely new look to our capital. The exhibition will provide a platform for distributing the latest technology and it will attract the attention of the world's states to our country."

The Expo will also promote innovative development, particularly in energy, power saving, construction, water supply, housing and communal services and the organisers of AstanaBuild 2013 are attributing the exhibitions 25% growth to the interest shown by the construction community due to this large-scale event.

Around 170 major Kazakhstani and international companies involved in the construction industry will exhibit at AstanaBuild 2013, from Austria, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Kazakhstan, China, UAE, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, and South Korea.
