Aktau Bitumen Plant Launched the Production of Modified Bitumen

INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN – The bitumen plant in the City of Aktau (administrative centre of the Region of Mangistau in Kazakhstan) launched the production of modified bitumen, the Press Service of KazMunayGas – Refining and Marketing JSC informed.

zavodModified bitumen is produced through introduction of the SBS polymer component (modifier) into oil road bitumen. The polymer in the composition extends operating temperature range up to 100 degrees Celsius which is much higher than in standard bitumen and increases its wearability, the circulated message clarifies.
 
Output of the modified product is 120,000 tons per year; the produced bitumen allows lengthening the life of road surface in 1.5-2 times.
 
Aktau bitumen plant “JV” Caspi Bitum LLP is a joint venture of KazMunayGas – Refining and Marketing JSC (50%) and CITIC Kazakhstan LLP (50%), commissioned in December 2013.
 
KazMunayGas – Refining and Marketing JSC is a subsidiary of the National Company KazMunayGas JSC. The main activities of KMG – RM are management of refining assets, oil and oil products export, development of retail network distribution of oil products.
